International move in Motala – safe, insured and at a fixed price
Moving household belongings abroad takes more planning than a local move. We help plan collection, packing and furniture transport to your new address. Ask about shared transport, packing assistance and storage. For destinations outside the EU, customs requirements need checking before departure. Your quote specifies the services, document preparation and costs included in your particular move.

For a move to Copenhagen or Aarhus, for example, tell us your household volume and vehicle access. Denmark is an EU country, but Nordic population registration follows special rules.
Move from Motala to Norway
Is your shipment going to Oslo, Bergen or another Norwegian town? Norway belongs to the EEA but not the EU customs union. Prepare an inventory and household-goods declaration, and check Norwegian Customs relief conditions before booking.

For Helsinki, Turku or elsewhere in Finland, plan the route and any ferry crossing around delivery. Check Nordic registration rules. A move to Åland needs separate assessment because special tax and customs rules may apply.
Move from Motala to Germany
For Hamburg, Berlin, Munich or another German destination, distance, volume and access affect the price. Tell us whether you can accept a delivery window so we can assess shared transport. Also check local address-registration rules.
Move from Motala to Spain or Portugal
Moving furniture to Alicante, Málaga, Barcelona, Lisbon or the Algarve? The longer distance makes volume and flexible dates important. Specify mainland or island delivery; routes, delivery times and customs conditions can differ.

For delivery to Paris, Nice, Milan or Vienna, for example, provide entrance, floor and parking details. Check building rules for moving and arrange access in advance. We discuss packing and protection for the long-distance journey.

For Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Brussels or other towns, street access and stairs matter. Send photos and dimensions of larger furniture. Any special permit or lifting assistance needed at delivery must be clarified in the quote.
Move from Motala to Switzerland or the United Kingdom
Switzerland and the United Kingdom are outside the EU customs union. For Zürich, Geneva or London, for example, check household-goods import requirements in advance. Provide exact addresses and distinguish Great Britain from Northern Ireland.
International moving prices – what does moving abroad cost?
When comparing international movers, quotes should cover the same volume, addresses and delivery terms. Moving a few items is different from a full household move. A low transport price may exclude packing, carrying indoors or destination charges.
- Volume and contents: cubic metres, boxes, furniture and items requiring special handling.
- Route and timing: distance, ferries, shared or dedicated transport and date flexibility.
- Access: lifts, stairs, parking, carrying distance and any permits at both addresses.
- Extras and terms: packing, furniture assembly, storage, insurance and any customs handling.
RUT for international moves
RUT may cover eligible labour when moving between your homes or storage within the EU/EEA or Switzerland, provided the other conditions are met. Vehicles, fuel, boxes and storage rent are excluded. Do not assume RUT applies to a household move to the UK; ask us and the Swedish Tax Agency to check your case.
Moving abroad – checklist before and after your move
- Check residence rights or visas, housing, work and any school places in your destination country.
- Inventory your belongings. Decide what to move, sell or store and estimate the volume in cubic metres.
- Request an itemised quote with dates, addresses, extras, payment terms, transport terms and insurance conditions.
- Check customs rules for the destination and any transit countries. Prepare an inventory, forms and authorisation where required.
- Notify the Swedish Tax Agency when required. Contact Försäkringskassan about social insurance and healthcare, and arrange mail forwarding separately.
- Review home insurance, banking, subscriptions, electricity, internet and any tenancy termination or subletting terms.
- Pack and number boxes. Photograph valuable items and keep passports, medicines, keys and important agreements with you.
- Confirm parking, lifts, keys and a recipient at both addresses. Plan move-out cleaning and a backup if access is delayed.
- Check belongings on delivery, document any damage and follow up local registration, healthcare and insurance after arrival.

Frequently asked questions about international move in Motala
Answers to what customers ask most. Can't find your answer? Get in touch and we'll help you.
There is no meaningful standard price for every international move. Costs depend on volume, distance, dates, floors, lifts and vehicle access. Packing, storage and customs handling also affect the price. Request an itemised quote showing VAT, extras and any destination charges.
We plan international moves within Europe. Ask about Denmark, Norway, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Austria, Switzerland or the UK, for example. We confirm availability, route and dates for your address in the quote; this list does not imply scheduled departures to every country.
Describe dimensions, box quantities and destination in your quote request. Shared transport may be an option for a small shipment if the route and dates fit. Specify any packing, disassembly or stair-carrying needs.
Shared transport means several customers share space on the same vehicle. It may reduce costs but often requires flexible collection and delivery dates. Before booking, clarify the delivery window, labelling, transfers and storage.
Contact us once you know your approximate dates and destination. Long distances, shared transport, peak periods and customs preparations may need more lead time. Book once scope, price and collection and delivery terms are confirmed in writing.
Timing depends on the destination, route, shared transport, ferries and customs clearance. Confirm both collection and delivery, including whether a date is fixed or a window. Keep clothes, medicines and essentials with you while waiting.
List furniture and boxes, preferably with measurements and photos. Volume is normally expressed in cubic metres. Include storage rooms, garages and balconies. Floor area alone is not enough; the quantity of belongings and how they can be loaded matter.
Say whether you will pack yourself or want a packing quote. Use sturdy boxes, fill empty spaces and protect glass, crockery and furniture surfaces. Number packages and keep a contents list. Check insurance conditions for owner-packed goods before deciding.
Check lift dimensions, stairs, door widths, parking and carrying distance at both addresses. Declare heavy or fragile items and arrange keys or a recipient. Any parking permits and access rules need resolving before moving day.
Tell us before booking if access is uncertain. Storage and later delivery require a separate agreement covering cost, handling and insurance. Report changed dates immediately; do not assume waiting time or storage is included.
Request written information on carrier liability, geographic coverage, compensation limits, excess and exclusions. Liability insurance is not the same as all-risk cover for the full value of your belongings. Check owner-packed boxes, valuables, transfers and storage, and ask your insurer about additional cover.
Inspect packages and furniture on delivery, photograph damage and note discrepancies on the delivery document. Notify the carrier in writing as soon as possible and retain your inventory, booking and receipts. Follow the deadlines in the agreed transport and insurance terms.
We review transport document preparation and agree on the assistance included. Swedish Customs says household goods must be declared for export using a customs declaration when moving from Sweden to a country outside the EU. You must provide accurate shipment, relocation and recipient details. Destination customs authorities decide their import requirements and eligibility for relief; moving does not automatically make imports duty-free.
Norway is not in the EU customs union. Norwegian Customs says used personal belongings can normally be imported free of duties and taxes if you have lived abroad continuously for at least a year, owned and used the items there and will keep using them in Norway. Import them in connection with your move, no later than a year afterwards. A signed household-goods declaration and inventory are needed; vehicles, alcohol and professional equipment have separate rules. Confirm your eligibility with Norwegian Customs.
Keep a valid passport or national identity card, booking confirmation and addresses available. Destinations requiring customs clearance may also require inventories, evidence of previous and new residence, customs forms and authorisation for a representative. Requirements vary by country and circumstances; check before collection.
If registered in Sweden and planning to live abroad for a year or more, notify the Swedish Tax Agency no later than a week before moving. Also notify them if a shorter intended stay becomes a year or more. Nordic moves have special rules. Mail forwarding does not replace notification.
No. The Swedish Tax Agency says you retain your personal identity number after registration as having emigrated. Swedish citizenship is also unaffected by this registration. Update your overseas address with the agency so official mail can reach you.
You may need to. The Swedish Tax Agency says filing and tax obligations can remain after leaving Sweden, depending on circumstances, income and ties to Sweden. Population registration and tax liability are separate matters; seek guidance for your case.
This depends on citizenship, destination and purpose. EU citizens have rights to live, work and study in other EU countries under free-movement rules, but conditions and administrative requirements can apply. Check local registration and residence-right rules. Booking household transport does not grant residence rights.
Plan schooling, childcare, healthcare and documents before departure. The Swedish Tax Agency says an emigration notification for children under 18 must be signed by all guardians; children aged 16 or older may submit their own notification. Contact your home municipality about compulsory schooling and destination authorities about enrolment.
Keep passports, identity documents, keys, contracts, medicines and essentials with you. Keep cash, jewellery and other valuables outside the ordinary shipment unless special transport and insurance are agreed. Check destination rules for carrying medicines.
Specify direction, addresses and goods in your request so we can assess the job. Imports into Sweden and business-equipment shipments require separate checks. Personal-effects rules do not automatically cover commercial goods, and transporting equipment is not the same as relocating a company legally.
Ordinary personal belongings moving from Sweden to another destination in the EU customs territory normally do not need customs clearance. Special territories, restricted goods and routes through non-EU countries may require other preparations. Do not treat Norway, Switzerland or the UK as ordinary EU moves; check the exact route and destination.
HMRC says tax and customs duty may apply to belongings moved to the UK. For England, Scotland or Wales, Transfer of Residence relief may be available if conditions are met. Apply using ToR01 before moving. EU-to-Northern-Ireland moves follow different rules and normally do not attract tax or duty on personal belongings. Check current HMRC requirements and provide the exact destination.
Yes, if eligible. The Swedish Tax Agency requires household belongings to move between your homes or storage within the EU/EEA or Switzerland. Relief is at most 50 percent of eligible labour, such as packing, carrying, loading and driver labour during the move. Vehicles, fuel, boxes, storage rent and air or sea transport are excluded. You also need sufficient Swedish tax and remaining allowance. Do not assume RUT applies to a household move to the UK.
Yes. Försäkringskassan says to notify them when moving to another country so they can assess whether you remain insured in Sweden. Accompanying family members also need to provide information. Do not assume Tax Agency notification alone is enough. Work, study, retirement and family circumstances can affect which country covers you.
Check healthcare cover before moving with Försäkringskassan and the destination authority. Within the EU, residence and work help determine which country is responsible for social and health insurance, not citizenship alone. Pensioners, students and posted workers may have special conditions. Contact the Swedish Pensions Agency if receiving a pension; do not assume all benefits continue unchanged.
Plan pet travel separately from household transport and contact a vet well in advance. Dogs, cats and ferrets travelling between EU countries normally need identification, valid rabies vaccination and an EU pet passport. Some destinations, including Finland and Norway, also require dogs to be treated for tapeworm. Check conditions and timing for the destination and route with the relevant animal authority.
These may be subject to duties, import restrictions or special transport rules. Declare them in advance and wait for confirmation; do not pack fuel, gas cylinders, chemicals, weapons or other hazardous items without explicit agreement. Norwegian Customs and HMRC say alcohol and tobacco do not automatically become duty-free as part of a household shipment.
Plan the car separately from ordinary household goods. Check registration, insurance, inspections and import charges with destination transport and customs authorities. In Norway, vehicles are not exempt from duties and taxes simply because you move there. Mention any need to assess separate vehicle transport in your request.
Not for every move. Road transport can be an option within Europe, while containers and sea freight may suit other destinations. We confirm what is available for your job; container shipping is not automatically included in our European service. Compare total costs including loading, port fees, customs handling, delivery and insurance, not just the container price.
Read cancellation, rescheduling and waiting-time terms before accepting the quote. Report changes promptly and request written confirmation of new prices and dates. If you have notified the Swedish Tax Agency and postpone or cancel your move, notify them no later than the original declared moving date.
